In this paper led by Kalt Holt, Natacha Couto, Jane Hawkey and the other named authors, the ESGEM-AMR working group, which Dylan Adlard and Philip Fowler are members of, we collectively call for the open sharing of phenotypic drug susceptibility testing (pDST) data alongside whole genome sequencing (WGS) data. The latter is deposited by convention in one of the public depositories such as the European Nucleotide Archive, whilst pDST is often, at best, found in the Supplemental Information of individual papers.

We have led the aggregation and sharing of M. tuberculosis complex samples with paired WGS/pDST data through the CRyPTIC datasets which are available via Zenodo and John Lees and others have created the AMR portal hosted by the EBI which, by heroic efforts, have agrgegated many thousands of samples. Clearly if all researchers deposited their pDST data alongside or at the same time as their genetic information such efforts would not be required.
